He spent a lot of time on his large yacht claiming to be helping the locals whilst busily begging for funds to secure his affluent lifestyle.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895174.post-59355915074523143292008-10-01T07:53:00.000-04:002008-10-01T07:53:00.000-04:00Yes, thank you.Yes, thank you.Stephenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08780306187674558854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895174.post-85250751554880185742008-10-01T07:42:00.000-04:002008-10-01T07:42:00.000-04:00Some of my friends went to hear Brent Borthwick in...Some of my friends went to hear Brent Borthwick in Fraserborough, simply out of curiosity. One of them left early quite disturbed(along with quite a few others), while the other didn't go to the second meeting because he was so shocked at the weirdness of the message.

"The Gospel is the Power of God unto salvation". People like Brent Borthwick, who are promoting the "Signs and Wonders" false gospel do not seem to be content with this alone. They seem to be experience worshippers with a fascination for the supernatural. I have heard people from an occult spiritualist church speak in similar ways to Christian false teachers ike John Paul Jackson, who encourage people to see "more of the supernatural" and encouraged people to talk to angels. While there is s supernatural world, it is dangerous to have it as the focus, and even more dangerous to talk to angels on a regular basis as John Paul Jackson does. I would ask, who is being worshipped here?

Going back to the what I was saying earlier, my friend who went the first night to this "Christian meeting" came back and said that he saw demons on the way home from the event. He was very frightened. Apparently someone at the meeting had prayed that he'd be able to "see the supernatural". In contrast, the second night, when he didn't go, he decided to hear a sermon preached by an Island preacher. He felt Gods nearness, convicting power and peace.

I hope people will see the difference between the real and the false Gospels of Brent Borthwick etc. I agree with the first comment. We should embrace Christ alone. The gospel is "Jesus plus nothing". I heard Kenny Borthwick speak at a "Church Without Walls" event a while ago and he said: "I believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins........but thats NOT the gospel". he then went on to say that the gospel was about spiritual gifts. This is false teaching at its most obvious and people should avoid both Brent and Kenny Borthwick, and CLAN in my opinion, even if there may be orthodox teachers there. There have been dodgy teachers there from the beginning.

Anyway, so be aware of this dangerous Gospel and embrace "Christ Crucified".

Paul said "For Jews demand signs and Greeks desire wisdom, but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles"
(1 Corinthians 1:22-25)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895174.post-4216131243545781372008-07-29T07:48:00.000-04:002008-07-29T07:48:00.000-04:00Thanks for the comments guys. Thanks for the comments guys.Stephenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08780306187674558854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895174.post-68151787220072514532008-07-29T05:51:00.000-04:002008-07-29T05:51:00.000-04:00I'm afraid I would have to disagree with you Steph...I'm afraid I would have to disagree with you Stephen.

I was at CLAN as well, for the whole week and the focus was most definitely not Lakeland. Rather the focus was Scotland and God's purposes for it.

Brent's talk on thursday was extremely focused on the vision that God had given him for Scotland, which was in essence a confirmation of a much earlier word.

The teaching at Clan over the week was very much grounded on the bible and I left Clan nothing but encouraged.

Is Todd Bentley a false apostle? No. Should we copy his style? No. While God is moving that way in the USA I honestly feel that the expression of the Spirit will be different in Scotland though no less powerful.

I hope and pray that the Spirit does come to you Stephen and show what His purposes are.EddieHnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895174.post-50536748109513987332008-07-29T03:00:00.000-04:002008-07-29T03:00:00.000-04:00Hi Stephen, I wasnt at clan but lots of lovely fri...Hi Stephen, I wasnt at clan but lots of lovely friends of mine were. however, my church has hosted brent borthwick in fraserburgh for four nights and one sunday morning now. I have been really troubled by what he has shared, and more troubled by how easily people are led into false teaching because they are afraid of not being open, etc. I have searched my own heart as to whether I am really open to something new, and Yes, I long to see a genuine move, but I cant and wont be led into this. I want reality, and that is found in Christ and Christ alone. anyway, I just was encouraged to read your blog, so thanks for posting it !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
